The town of Pushkin, one of the loveliest suburbs of St.
Petersburg, lies within 20 km from the city
(15 km from the international airport
Pulkovo). The town boasts magnificent
palaces and park ensembles, and it should cause
no surprise since from the middle of the 18th
century it was a gala residence of Russian tsars.
The mansion
of prince V.P.Kochubey - chief master of
ceremonies at Russian Imperial court - is one of
the most beautiful palaces of the town; it was
built between 1911-1913 to the design by the
architects A.I.Tamanyan and N.E.Lancere. The
mansion was designed and built in the style
of late classicism to become a big country house.
Natural and artificial marble, various kinds of
wood, wall paintings were used for the palace
decoration.
