Final remarks

A tape cartridge may be used to transport the data to discussed computing facility from other places where such data are produced. There were discussed several tape drives: Exabyte, DLT, etc. We need right now some media with not less than 20 GB uncompressed per cartridge and not less than 3 MB/sec uncompressed. After internal discussion at PNPI and some discussions with colleagues at DESY, BNL, CERN we think the DLT 7000 with 35 GB uncompressed per cartridge is good choice [22 December 1997]. That tape drive might be used for data transport (DST) and for backup needs.

For the pilot installation uniprocessor configuration is discussed. However it is easy to image how to upgrade it to two or four processor configuration.
