History of the Laboratory
Laboratory of Baryon Physics (
LBP) has been founded in 2020 on a basis of the Laboratory Meson Physics of Condensed Matter,
which has been governed by
V.P. Koptev.
Prior to the formation of the LBF, the staff members took part in research on the physics of intermediate energies:
About the laboratory
The main goal of the Laboratory of Baryon Physics is fundamental research in the field of
baryon
physics. LBP employees take part in the international scientific programs
LHCb (CERN),
AMBER
(CERN, Geneva), as well as in research at the electron accelerator of the University of Mainz (Germany).
Main scientific goals of LBP are:
- study of the proton charge radius via lepton (electron or muon) scattering;
- study of production and decays of baryons containing heavy quarks;
- spectroscopy of baryonic states;
- operation and modernization of the muon system of the LHCb experiment;
- development of programs for analysis of experimental data and Monte-Carlo simulation of physics processes.
