The RIC-80 project (Radioactive Isotopes at the C-80 Cyclotron )

At Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute the cyclotron C-80 was designed to produce protons with the energy of 40–80 MeV and beam intensity of 100 µA.
     The radioisotope complex (RIC), which is planned to be constructed at the beam of C-80 (up to 80 MeV and the beam intensity up to 100 µA), will provide a unique opportunity to produce a wide range of radionuclide for medicine (for diagnostics and therapy). The characteristics of the planned radioisotope complex are comparable with the world leading facilities
     The combination of the mass-separator with the target-ion source device, available at one of the new target stations allows for the production of a high purity separated radioisotopes, which is of great importance for medical application.

The IRINA (Investigation of Radioactive Isotopes with Neutrons) project

Development of the mass-separator laser-nuclear facility IRINA is undergoing within the framework of “Development of scientific installations for PIK reactor facility” [1]. The facility is planned to be installed at the high-flux reactor PIK. The facility will comprise a mass-separator, ion guides, detection system, laser setup and PITRAP setup (a system of Penning ion traps for precise mass measurements for exotic nuclei far from stability), and a special hot cell. The IRINA facility at the PIK reactor will provide excellent opportunities to perform unique experiments for investigations of properties of nuclei far from beta-stability, for solid-state physics studies, and to develop new methods of production of high-purity isotopes for medical applications. The IRINA facility will provide the most intensive beams of neutron-rich nuclei in the world.
